I saw this vid over at Dear Whoever. It seems like cats are actually Freestyling again lol. Big Sean, Cory Gunz, and Mickey Factz go in over Just Blaze's classic The Roc (Just Fire) beat. All 3 of these guys spit dope verses. Gunz rips it as usual and Mickey Factz shocked me. Big Sean is starting to gain my respect as an MC after seeing him in that G.O.O.D. music cypher at the BET Awards and I realized dude can actually spit when he wants to. It's good to see the MC's of my generation working together instead of beefing. Check out the cypher.

Pilot Talk 2 Cover Art

The cover art for Curren$y's  Pilot Talk 2 was released today and it's dope as hell. Pilot Talk's cover was green, the sequel's is purple. If you know Spitta and your trees you know that it means this album is going to be more potent than it's prequel. Bun B said via twitter that he was supposed to be featured on the album but he couldn't get his verse to Curren$y on time. I'm sure that collabo will find its way to our ears either way. I'm expecting the track listing to be released before next week is out so I'll keep you y'all posted. In the mean time checkout the album's first single "Michael Knight". Jets Fool!

You mad!!!

NYC's own Cam'ron is known for his colorful (no homo? lol ) wordplay and boastful raps. Dude's in my personal top 5 but he's probably known outside of Hip Hop for his infamous nation wide interviews more than anything. Back in 2003 Cam and Dame Dash went on The O' Reilly factor to talk about how rap was effecting the younger generation and ended up spawning the infamous "You Mad!" catchphrase. I think O' Reilly is an ass so it was dope to see this go down lol. You can see him and the school's principal getting agitated as Cam continues to violate. I'm including Cam's take on snitching while on 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper and the track "Just Fire" one of my favorite joints on  "Come Home With Me" as well. I was loafing on twitter as usual and Interscope artist Yelawolf posted a link to a video for Big Krit's "Somedayz". The song and video are both dope as Krit goes in on Soul of Mischief's "93 til infinity". I've been a Krit fan since I heard him on the track "Glass House" off of Wiz's "Kush and Orange Juice" mixtape. At first Krit seemed like Pimp C reincarnated and I was anxious to hear what the Mississippi native had to bring to the table. Then "K.R.I.T. wuz here" dropped.
The album was definitely one of the better releases of the year and it showed that Krit was definitely more than the second coming of Pimp C. His Mississippi drawl mixed with lyrical content and dope beats, that he makes, provides music that you have no choice but to nod your head to. Def Jam must have heard the same thing I heard in dude because he inked a deal with the label and is currently listed on the Smokers' Club Tour with Curren$y and Smoke DZA. The Factz on Gunz

Two members from XXL's Freshman class of 09' are plotting on dropping a mixtape together. Mickey Factz announced in an interview with Allhiphop.com that he's working on a mixtape with fellow bronx native Cory Gunz. The two Bronx residents seem like they want to shake the game up a bit. While I've never been a big fan of Mickey Facts, I've been listening to Cory Gunz since his "Apprentice" series dropped. He KILLED Wayne on "A Milli" and if he would have made it on the album version I'm positive he would have been in a way different position then he is now. Gunz' flow is insane! These two are the only freshman from the 09' class that haven't really put any work in since the cover debuted, so I'm anxious to see what they cook up. Some new music from Europe's own S.A.S. If you're a Diplomats fan you should know who these cats are. They used to be down with The Roc and Juelz is still "influenced" by em lol. Mega and Mayhem used their "Connect" and got Vado one of NY's dopest new spitters on the track. The track is off of their upcoming project "Galaxy Fly", dropping November 1st. The Tunnel was NYC's premier nightclub during the 90's. The club was opened in 1987 and everyone from Mystikal to Jay-z rocked the stage there. Needless to say, you weren't running shit in the 90's if you didn't perform there. The club closed down in 2001 but the legend lives on. Here are a few clips of live performances at the nightclub and a trailer from documentary being put together by Roc-a-fella's former videographer Choke No Joke. Sidenote: The way Jay puts on performances now is a perfect example of an artists growth.

If you're from New York City you should know who Big L is. If you don't know, do your research. L is a legend. His wordplay and flow were wicked and his punchlines were unforgettable. He came up in Harlem with Cam and Mase and joined them in the group Children of the Corn. Before he was killed in February of 99' it was said that he was in talks to sign with Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella which is no surprise as they had one of the illest freestyle sessions ever on Stretch and Bobbito's show back in 95'. The full 10 minute version of the freestyle recently surfaced so I'm giving you guys the link along with the trailer for Street Struck, a documentary on L's life being put together by his brother Donald Phinazee. There's also talks of a new Big L album that will have Premo, Eminem, and Jay-Z involved. Insane man!

Starbury in China

I catch a lot of shit for being a Marbury fan but when you ignore the vaseline eating and crying on camera dude is one of the greatest point guards to play the game despite not getting a ring. Steph is the only player outside of Oscar Robertson to average 20 points and 8 assists for his career and has had few all-star game appearances. Steph has probably played his last season in the NBA and decided to take his talents to China where he's running shit lol. Don't believe me? Check the CBA All-Star game highlights.

I've been a fan of these dudes since their first tape 100% dropped in 2008. Children of the Night  or COTN for short is a trio out of Queens, NY consisting of Lansky, Versa, and Remy Banks. If you're looking for lyricism and fun over dope beats COTN is definitely where it's at. Can't fail to mention that their live show is bananas! Basketball Season is in

NBA Season is officially underway and three of the leagues elite teams had their season openers last night.

Kobe and the Lakers took on the Houston Rockets and came out on top after being down for most of the game. No surprise though, Kobe is the best player in the world and hungry for his 6th ring. Kobe and Pau put up 27 and 29 respectively for the Lakers while Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks put up 26 and 24 for the Rockets. Those two are definitely two youngsters on the rise in the league. The final score was 112-110.

 

Rondo, the Big Three and Shaq took on Miami's new conglomerate made up of Wade, James and Bosh. With big expectations from the Heat everyone was expecting them to come out in a big way. In his debut as a Heat player LeBron put up 31 points while Wade put up 13 points, 6 assists and Bosh 8 points and 8 rebounds but it wasn't enough to stop the Celtics. Rondo had 17 assists..... More than the Heats' entire roster combined. Pierce put up 19 and Allen put up 20 which included 5 3-pointers. Ray is still the best shooter in the game. The final score was 88-80.

It's just the beginning of the season. Don't count the Heat out yet folks.

The games being updated for a new generation and reintroduced for the Nintendo Wii. I'm hype lol and this game is bound to be dope as fuck. Here's the trailer.

Jordan releases

I've been a low key Jordan head for years, I just never really bought any.  The Grape V's were one of those releases that made me pissed I didn't get em when they dropped and I've been searching for them to no avail lol. Luckily there's a rumor that they'll be re-released in July 2011 as a part of a package with the Laney V's.

The III's are another pair of classic Jordans. The Cement III's are getting a re-release too. 2011 is shaping up to be a good year.

Back in 08' me and my boys, Josh and Charles, took a vacation on a Carnival cruise line. On that vacation Glaze TV was born. It started off as the three of us enjoying life, filming it and sharing it with our friends but started to develop into something much bigger. Fast forward 2 summers later our bond got stronger and DoughNuts was created. It's everything Glaze TV represented but on a larger scale.
For the upcoming season the plan is to bring you guys into our world via dope designs and entertainment. We'll have the store and official website up before the years out but the blog should keep you tuned in until then.
